A series of photographs taken around 1920 in Robesonia, Berks County, Pennsylvania, of the three children of Norman L. Riegle (1886-1942) and Lydia [Helt] Riegle (1883-1942) and their cousin-babysitter, Hannah L. Riegle (1904-1977). These pictures show Hannah supervising her cousins while they are playing in the snow.
Hannah L. Riegle was born in Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, 24 November 1904. Hannah’s father, Charles G. Riegle (1876-1913) died in the mines when she was about nine years old. Norman L. Riegle was Charles’ youngest brother and in 1920 was an undertaker in Robesonia. Hannah’s mother, Minnie [Coleman] Riegle (1880-1958) was left without financial support when her husband died, and welcomed the opportunity provided by Norman to allow Hannah to come to Robesonia to assist with his children, who were Hannah’s first cousins.
Other than Hannah, those pictured in these snapshot photos are: Louise K. Riegle (1915-1917); Daniel H. Riegle (1917-1990); Delos N. Riegle (1919-1990).
