A photograph taken late in the 19th century of breaker boys at a colliery lined up for their pay. Although this photo was said to have been taken at the Parker No. 5 Breaker at Girardville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, the scene is typical of paydays at collieries in the anthracite coal fields.
