Norman Edwin “Bud” Warfel was born in Millersburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, on January 7, 1924. He was a graduate of Millersburg High School and attended college at Shippensburg. Bud played for two years, 1949 and 1950, for minor league teams affiliated with the Chicago White Sox of the American League.

Millersburg Pitcher Key Man On Hot Springs Team
Norman “Bud” Warfel, of Millersburg, has been rated as the second best Hot Springs, Arkansas, pitcher by a sportswriter of that community.
Hot Springs is a farm team of the Chicago White Sox. Raymond Bear, of Millersburg is also a pitcher with the Arkansas team.
Prior to suffering a broken wrist when hit by a pitched ball, Warfel posted eight victories against four defeats. in two years of pitching for Hot Springs he has chalked up 20 wins and 11 losses.
Following his brief professional baseball career, he taught at Line Mountain High School, Herndon, Northumberland County, where he also coached golf and football. He also earned a Master’s Degree from Bucknell University.
Bud Warfel died on December 21, 2005, in Millersburg, and he is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in that same place. During World War II he served in the United States Army, which is noted on his military grave marker at the cemetery. For further information, see: Findagrave.
