An October 2019 photo essay of St. James Independent Church, 3502 Powell’s Valley Road, Carsonville, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The church building was built in 1905 as the new home of St. James Reformed Church. The 1905 building replaced an earlier log building built in1859 as a union church of Lutheran and Reformed congregations. By 1893, poor Lutheran attendance resulted in the abandonment of claims to the building, leaving all to the Reformed congregation.
Today, the church is considered independent. Its current [2021] pastor, Rev. Keith Dimpsey, is a native of Carsonville. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas.
