DEATHS AND FUNERALS
Mrs. John Woland of North Second Street [Lykens] died at 6:15 a.m. Monday [28 June 1909] after an illness of seven months with cancer of the stomach, aged 65 years, 1 month, 12 days. Deceased was married twice- first to Philip Hoffman, who was killed in the mines 30 years ago. One child resulted from this marriage, Miss Hattie Hoffman, at home. Her marriage to Mr. Woland was without issue.
Besides her husband aand daughter she is survived by four step-children, viz: Mrs. Joseph Daniel, of the West End; James Woland of Armstrong Valley; Mrs. Norman Manley of Harrisburg; and Mrs. Fred Wright of Philadelphia.
Also by the following sisters: Mrs. Amanda Hoover, of Dietrich; Mrs. Solomon Rettinger of town; Mrs. Hannah Riegle, Mrs. Sarah Hoffman, and Mrs. Rebecca Rickart [sic], all of near Gratz [Specktown, Lykens Township].
The funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church at 2 p.m., yesterday, the pastor, Rev. Jones, assisted by Rev. Hildt of the Evangelical Association Church officiating. Interment was made in Odd Fellows’ Cemetery [Lykens].
