Christian E. Gaupp Dies at Age of 87
Christian E. Gaupp, 87, of Elizabethville, died at the Kepler Convalescent Home, at that place, Friday afternoon, following an illness of ten days.
He was born in Germany, 30 May 1863, and came to this country in early youth. Mr. Gaupp resided in the Elizabethville community most of his life and for man years was engaged in the leather, hide and tanning business, He was Elizabethville‘s oldest active fisherman and was widely known. He was a member of the EUB church and the Odd Fellow of that ace.
Surviving are a son, Martin Gaupp, Harrisburg; three daughters, Mrs. Dora Orwin and Mrs. Lulu Matter, Elizabethville, and Mrs. George Lebo, Elizabethville R.D.; a step-son, Stephen Snyder, Elizabethville; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services were held from the Buffington Funeral Home, Elizabethville, at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Rev. H. M. Falstick officiating, and interment was made in Maple Grove Cemetery.
