PALMYRA MAN… KILLED IN ACCIDENT
By Mary O. Bradley, Patriot-News
A Lebanon County man was killed yesterday [29 September 1990] when his car plunged over an embankment on Routes 22-322 in Perry County and landed on a road below.
State police at Newport said Daniel H. Riegle, 73, of 976 E. Fir St., Palmyra, was killed in the accident in Buffalo Township, that injured his wife, Beatrice E. Riegle, 69. She was flown to Hershey Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition last night, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Riegle was among five people killed in traffic accidents in three counties since Friday night. Three people, whose identities were not released, were killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Luzerne County yesterday, and a crash in York County claimed the life of an Abbottstown man Friday.
Troopers said Riegle was traveling west near the Midway Exit when his station wagon left the roadway and traveled some distance off the road before becoming airborne. The car went over an embankment and came to rest on Meadow Grove road.
Riegle was pronounced dead at the scene of the 1:20 p.m. accident by Perry County Coroner Michael J. Shalonis, troopers said.
Newport Fire Company and ambulance personnel and Life Lion helicopter assisted troopers….
