David Gratz
Mr. Gratz is the only survivor of the Simon Gratz ancestry living in this valley. He is a son of Edward Gratz, and a grandson of Simon Gratz. His father, Edward Gratz, owned and laid the Borough of Lykens out in lots with his father in 1858 and has been a constant resident since that time. He has assisted in the many “ways and means” incidental to developing the present town. The Gratz people practically owned this section at one time, and played a very important part in the early progressive developments. Gratz Borough in the Lykens Valley is named after its founder, Simon Gratz, grandfather of David.
