LIFELESS BODY FOUND IN CAR
Identified as Earl Miller Of Bloomsburg, R.D. 1, Formerly of Millersburg
The body of Earl Miller, 25, of Bloomsburg, R.D. 1, formerly of Millersburg, was found in a car bearing New York license, on a side road near the Brethren in Christ Church, east of town [Millersburg], Tuesday night, by State Police of the Lykens sub-station. Police said Dr. S. E. Herold, of Lykens, released the body to the Reiff and Helt Funeral Home, Lykens.
State Police said Wednesday afternoon that a .22 caliber rifle was found in the car beside the lifeless body of Miller, who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, but while the head wound appeared to have been self-inflicted investigations had not been complete,. Death was caused by a bullet but it had not been definitely established that it was fired from the rifle or by whom.
Ownership of the car was not immediately established.
Millersburg Police Chief Earl Farner said that Miller was on parole for an automobile theft charge and was wanted by probation officers in Union County. He said a local young man spoke to Miller earlier Tuesday evening not far from where his lifeless body was found.
Miller is survived by a sister, Mrs. Geraldine Johnson, Pine St., and a step-sister, Mrs. Clyde Cropf, Millersburg, R.D. 1.
Funeral arrangements will not be completed while police investigations continue.
