Mrs. Reuben Kessler Buried on Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth [Sweigard] Kessler, age 83 years, were held from the residence at Loyalton, Sunday afternoon. Further services were held in Simeon’s Reformed Church, Gratz and interment was made in the cemetery at that place. Her pastor, Rev. Dr. C. P. Wehr, of the Lykens Valley Reformed Charge, officiated.
Mrs. Kessler was born at Enterline, May 10, 1948, and died early Thursday morning, october 22. Early in life she was confirmed a member of Bowerman’s Reformed Congregation and married to Reuben Kessler in 1871, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Kessler was a member of the Gratz Reformed Church at the time of her death.
She was a member of the King’s Daughters, Class of the Gratz Sunday School and a charter member of the Willing Worker Bible Class of the Loyalton Sunday School. For a period of six years, up to 1931, she had not missed a Sunday School session.
She is survived by two children: James A. Kessler, and Lousanna, Mrs. A. H. Rowe, both of Loyalton; a sister, Mrs. Grant Bishop of Harrisburg; one brother, Samuel Sweigard, Lucerne, Indiana; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Floral tributes included: spray of carnations, family; basket yellow chrysanthemums, Mr. and Mrs. James Kessler; spray rose chrysanthemums, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Bishop; spray of chrysanthemums and pink roses, the King’s Daughters Bible Class, Gratz; spray of pink roses, Willing Worker Bible Class, Loyalton; spray of pink roses, Mrs. John Bressler; slumber robe, great-grandchildren.
The family desires to express appreciation for assistance received during their bereavement, as well as for tokens of sympathy received.
