A 2017 photograph of Newton Hall, 310 West Main Street, Elizabethville, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. At the time of the Elizabethville Bicentennial, this was the oldest home in Elizabethville, being 175 years old.
According to information in the Bicentennial Program Book, the home was built in 1842 by John Paul Jr., who lived here until his death in 1868.
Later, it was the home of author and poet Harvey Monroe Miller who was born here on 27 September 1871. Miller was best known for creating “Solly Hulsbuck,” a Pennsylvania Dutch character through which he told folk stories. Harvey died on 17 June 1939 and is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery,
