This view of the Elizabethville Railroad Station, Elizabethville, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, was taken by the Interstate Commerce Commission’s survey of railroad structures in 1917. The survey’s intent was to see if consolidation of many of the smaller railroads into a regional system would improve operational efficiency. The consolidation never happened.
The large open door on the station was at the station’s east end. Items are being transferred from the wagon to the platform (or vice versa). A box car is parked on the track by the platform.
No person in the photo has been identified.
