Emanuel Bixler (1858-1938)

EMANUEL BIXLER BURIED MONDAY

Emanuel Bixler, a life long and respected resident of Hegins Township, died at his late home early last Thursday morning [26 May 1938] from a lingering illness.

He was born 26 March 1858, a son of the late David Bixler and his wife, Annie [Wolfgang] Bixler.  He was aged 80 years, 2 months.

He leaves to survive his beloved wife, Mrs. Tillie Bixler, and the following children:  Irvin Bixler; Mrs. David Artz; Mrs. George Hepler, Valley View.  Rufus Bixler; Mrs. Derwin Miller; Mrs. Irvin Artz; Elvin Bixler; Miss Gertie Bixler; and Miss Wrela Bixler, Hegins.  David Bixler, Tower City.  Mrs. Christ Hopstetter, Tremont.  Also 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon from his late home and in the St. John’s Evangelical Church at Hegins.  Rev. L. R. Helt, his pastor, and Rev. M. S. Mumma, a former pastor, officiated.

Interment took place in St. John’s Cemetery.

Mr. Bixler at one time was a township road supervisor for several terms.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to every one who have given a helping hand through the long period of sickness, and for the sympathies received during the bereavement.  They also wish to thank the persons who sent the lovely flowers.

A. R. Buffington Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
