A photograph taken about 1906 of the first automobile sold by a Tremont Nash dealer, Tremont, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, of the first auto sold by the dealership in that year.
Photo caption:
The late Harry Smith of Pine Grove, the man with the cap was the father of Walter Smith, Tremont Nash co-dealer with Phaon Rehrer. The elder Mr. Smith was the first automobile dealer in this area, and the car shown above was the first passenger automobile he sold, a 1906 Rambler, purchased from him, by the late Frank B. Wheeler. In the front seat of the right-hand drive car with Mr. Smith is the late Tabot Wheeler. The women in the rear are Walter Smith‘s aunt, Mamie Spangler, seated on the right side, and the wife of the man who bought the car, Mrs. Frank Wheeler. This picture was displayed by the local Nash dealer, along with 1906 and 1907 license plates, at the dinner given by Nash Motors in honor of their Tremont dealers on Tuesday evening.
