FORMER PILLOW RESIDENT MEETS TRAGIC DEATH (1930)
Frank H. Reed Found Dead In Gas-Fille Room of Lodging House at Pittsburgh Where He Had Lived for several Years
Relatives of Frank H. Reed, a native of Pillow and well known in that section and at Herndon, yesterday received a telegram apprising them of his tragic death in a rooming house in Pittsburgh.
According to the information contained in the message, Mr. Reed, who had removed to Pittsburgh several years ago, was found dead in a gas-filled room of his lodging house. Discovery of the body was made by the landlady of the place.
Pittsburgh officials at once made an investigation to determine the caase which is believed to have been in good health and had no apparent reason to contemplate suicide.
The suicide theory is also exploded by the fact that Samuel W. Reed, the deceased’s father, had received a letter several days ago in which his son stated that he expected to pay a visit to the family homestead at Herndon over the week-end.
The deceased was 49 years old and was popularly known in Herndon, Pillow, and the surrounding countryside.
Surviving is one son, Marlin Reed; four brothers, William Reed of Hebe, Adam Reed of Pillow, Grant Reed of Herndon, and Emory Reed of Reading; also one sister, Mrs. Fred Snyder, of Herndon, and his father.
The funeral will be held at 10 o’clock Saturday morning at Pillow with services in charge of Rev. W. H. Kline, of Urban. Burial will be made in the little Pillow cemetery.
