TOWNSHIP MAN VICTIM OF FARM ACCIDENT
George Elmer Finkbone, 61, was killed then pinned beneath a corn picking machine on his farm in Lykens Township, east of Berrysburg, Tuesday afternoon.
Mr. Finkbone had been doing some work on the machine, which was stored in the wagon shed. It is believed it was when he attempted to crawl from beneath the corn picker that the rear end of the machine fell on his chest.
The accident was discovered by his wife. Dr. A. A. Horn of Gratz, who was summoned, pronounced the man dead.
Mr. Finkbone was a son of William Finkbone and Alice [Snyder] Finkbone and was a native of Northumberland County. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Berrysburg.
Survivors are his wife, Mary [Romberger] Finkbone; one daughter, Mrs. Ivan Hoover, Harrisburg R.D. 3; one grandchild; a brother, John Finkbone, Harrisburg; and two sisters, Mrs. Warren Matter, Harrisburg R.D.; and Mrs. John Grubb, of Lebanon.
Services will be held from the Hoover Funeral Home, Berrysburg, at 1:30 o’clock Friday afternoon. Rev. L. P. Delp, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church will officiate and interment will be in the United Brethren Cemetery, Berrysburg.
