An undated photograph in winter of the home and farm buildings that in 1875 was on the 150 acre farm of George Moyer, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
The dates of the construction of the buildings are not known.
It was on this farm that Thomas W. Hoffman (1839-1905) was raised. He enlisted in the 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry during the Civil War and was the only resident of Lykens Township who served who received the Congressional Medal of Honor.
This land was part of two tracts of land from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania: (1) a grant to Baltzer Romberger in 1798; and (2) a grant to John Reiter known as Reitersburg that was patented in 1786.
The 150 acre George Moyer farm was located directly west of Gratz, which is the gray area to the right, above. The cut is from an 1875 map of Lykens Township.
