Gladys Schneider (1930-1949) – Run-Over by Tractor Trailer

INJURIES FATAL TO BERRYSBURG GIRL

Miss Gladys Schneider, 18, of Berrysburg, injured when she was run-over by a wheel of a tractor-trailer truck near Hebe Monday evening, died in the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, Wednesday night.  She had sustained injuries of the scull and ribs and internal injuries.

The accident occurred near the farm of Mrs. Sterling Boyer where she had been employed.  The truck was operated by Robert Strohecker, a neighbor.

According to advices, Allma Stohecker, 14, a sister of Strohecker, and Miss Schneider, jumped on the rear of the truck without the drivers knowledge.  He had driven but a short distance when the Schneider girl was jolted from the vehicle and fell beneath a rear wheel.  He stopped the vehicle upon hearing the screams of his sister.

The injured girl was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

She is survived by her mother Mary Neiman, Berrysburg; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Neiman, Berrysburg and Mrs. Frank Mikowychok, Norristown.

Services will be held from the Hoover Funeral Home, Berrysburg, at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon.  Rev. Truman Wise of Mandata, pastor of God’s Missionary Church, will officiate and interment will be in the Evangelical Cemetery at Berrysburg.
