A set of four photographs of grading for the Midland Pennsylvania Railroad, which began 1908 and 1909. The railroad was planned to run from Millersburg in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, to Gordon and Ashland in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. It was never completed and ended up in failure in the 1920s.
The exact location where these photos were taken is not known, but from the relatively level terrain, the views are likely to be from around Berrysburg. The last two photos appear to be grading for the overpass east of Berrysburg where the railroad was to cross over Route 25 and run on the northern side of Route 25 toward Gratz.
None of the individuals in the photos are identified.
