A 2010 photograph of the section of the Gratz History Mural featuring a home built about 1836 and owned by Elizabeth [Fry] Shindel. A famous tenant at this property was Theodore Gratz, son of Simon Gratz, founder of the town. Although he did not own the house, it is referred to today as the “Theodore Gratz House,” or “The Gratz House.”
On May 30, 2005, a 75-foot wall mural entitled “A Walk Through History” was dedicated in the Community Building in Gratz, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, commemorating 200 years of Gratz history and recognizing the people from the past and present who together have made Gratz “a place to call home.” A small portion of the mural is pictured above.
