From 1854 to 1872, this house was owned by Jeremiah Crabb, a blacksmith, who built a shop on the lot around 1860. Jeremiah was the son of Peter Crabb, one of the earliest settlers of Gratz,
Just prior to the house being sold in 1871, Jeremiah Crabb moved to Sacarmento, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, where he worked as a blacksmith at Wiest’s Hotel.
The individuals on the front steps are not identified.
