A 1988 photograph of the Gratz-Lykens Township Elementary School, located on North Center Street, Gratz, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
At the time the photograph was taken, plans were underway at the Upper Dauphin Area School District to consolidate all the elementary students into one site at its Loyalton Campus. Thus, this school, along with the four others located in Lykens Valley communities, was closed in 1990 and the building was turned over to the Borough of Gratz to use as a community center. A good history of this consolidation can be found in the recently published Elizabethville Bicentennial History.
