The following news briefs were published in the “Gratz News” section of a local newspaper, for the week of August 29, 1934:
Mrs. Jacob Maurer, of Herndon, is spending [sic] at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Guy Troxell and family.
Sunday visitors at the home of C. U. Kratzer and family were: Mr. and Mrs. William Trautman and children, Charlotte Trautman, Anna Trautman, and Billy Trautman of Reading; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Koppenhaver, of Spring Glen; Mr. and Mrs. John Kratzer and son Louis Kratzer, of Elizabethville; and Mrs Henry Schultz and daughter Jean Schultz, of Philadelphia.
Miss Blanche Hepler spent a few days among relatives in Harrisburg.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Umholtz and Gerald Deiter, of Lykens, spent Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Daniels.
Florence Strayer, of Harrisburg, spent the week visiting among relatives of this place.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kissinger and children, of Williamstown, spend during the week at the home of the former’s mother, Mrs. John Riegel and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Blyler and son Charles spent Sunday of last week among relatives in Valley View.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Riegel and friends of Harrisburg, called in town here during the week.
Mrs. William Brown and daughter of Mandata, spent a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Scheib and family.
Norwood Engle, of Penbrook, is spending some time with his uncle, Mark Kebaugh and family.
Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Troxell spent two weeks visiting with their son, Miles Troxell and family at Rixford, McKean County.
Miss Laura Howard, of near Millersburg, is visiting at the home of her uncle, Allen Hassinger and family.
Miss Pauline Shoffstall, of Harrisburg and Mr. Light, of Lebanon, spent Sunday of last week at the home of Joseph Ritzman and family.
Mr. and Mrs. William Partridge, son Billie Partridge and daughter Peggy Anne Partridge, of Shamokin, are spending their vacation with the former’s mother, Mrs. Della Laudenslager.
Dr. and Mrs. Allen Ritzman, of Harrisburg, spent Sunday of last week among relatives of this place.
Guy L. Troxell, from the State Hospital at Harrisburg, visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. U. Kratzer and family last Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Scheib announce the birth of a daughter, Saturday, August 18th.
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Troxell announce the birth of a daughter on Thursday, August 23rd.
Mr. and Mrs. Austin Rothermel spent Sunday at the home of the former’s parents,. Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Rothermel, near Hebe.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Feese, daughter Nancy Feese and son Roy Feese, of Hebe, spent Sunday evening at the home of Austin Rothermel and family.
Miss Esther Kratzer is spending some time with her sister, Mrs. William Trautman and family at Reading.
Miss Orpha Stroup, Ruth Stroup, Marie Rothermel and John Harris, attended the Port Royal Fair, Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Minnich, daughter Margaret Minnich, Miss Mary Howe of Wiconisco, and Harry Minnich, of Williamstown, spent Monday at the home of Harry Hepler and family.
Mr. Willis Dietrich, of Williamstown, spent Wednesday at the home of Harry Hepler.
Miss Mary Wise, of York, spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Wise and family.
Mrs. Helen Scheib and children, Minerva Scheib and Elwood Scheib, of Curtin, visited on Sunday at the home of her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. David Bellis, east of town.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Klinger and children Helen Klinger and Selan Klinger, spent Sunday afternoon in Llewellyn.
