The following news briefs were published in the “Gratz News” section of a local newspaper, for the week of 16 February 1927:
Mrs. Scott Barr of Hegins, was the guest at the home of George Hepler and family and her brother, O. T. Tobias and family and also other relatives in town last week.
Rev. and Mrs. Welend, of Berrysburg, were entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hoffman on Wednesday.
Ross Blyler made a business trip to Tremont Friday.
Marlin Umholtz had business at Harrisburg, Thursday.
Harry Umholtz, of Loyalton, had business in town, Monday.
Mrs. Clarion Strauss and son Teddy Straus and Miss Mollie Bowman, of Berrysburg, have returned to their home after visiting relatives and friends in town.
William Wingert spent the week-end with his wife at Loyalton.
Mr. and Mrs. William Troutman, of Loyalton, spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. C. U. Kratzer, Sunday.
Mrs. H. G. Buffington is a visitor at Harrisburg at present.
Mr. and Mrs. John Kratzer, of Elizabethville, spent Sunday with the latter’s parents.
Dr. and Mrs. Lebo and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lentz and daughter, of Penbrook, visited at the home of Robert McNally and family, Sunday.
J. A. Willier, Ira Rothermel and George Hepler returned home on Sunday from Florida. They enjoyed the trip very much.
The Parent-Teacher Association, have secured the Rev. G. H. Seidel, of Reading, to deliver a popular lecture on the “Triangle of Life” at the Luncheon meeting on the 25th of February, in the social room of I.O.O.F. Hall. Mr. Seidel is a well known former pastor of this community. Tickets for lecture including luncheon, will be sold at 35c for adults and 25c for children. Everybody interested in schools is cordially invited to attend.
The re-opening of the Brick school house, which was damaged by fire, was a grand success, Monday evening.
