The Simeon Reformed Church, Gratz, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, had a women’s group in the 1930s and at that time posed for this photo, possibly taken at an outdoor event such as a picnic.
While the exact date of the photograph has not been determined, most of the women have been identified. However, there appears to be some confusion as to which standing women are in which of the two standing rows behind the seated women. The 6th seated woman from the left has also not been identified. In addition, most of the women pictured were probably married at the time the photo was taken and it is not known if the surname given in the identifications is the married name or the maiden name.
As identified, the women are:
Front Row (seated): Dorothy Wise; Hannah Hartman; Maude Buffington; Lizzie Reed; Becky Daniel; —–?—–; Kate Koppenhaver; Ellen Shade.
Middle Row (standing behind the seated row): Eva Miller; Anna Schoffstall; Avis Reigle; Irene Kissinger; Hilda Blyler; Blanche Hepler (probably dark, “V” neck dress)
Back Row (standing behind the middle row): Stella Paul; Mabel Daniel; Alma Hess; Katherine Troxell; Anna Brosius; Emma Clark; Emma Buffington; Edna Shade; Daisy Steely.
