Today’s post presents an article from the Sunbury Daily Item of 26 March 1979.
PROBE OF GRATZ SLAYING WIDENS
GRATZ – The investigation is continuing into the murder of a 68-year-old Gratz widow, whose body was found in her Market Street home Friday morning by her housekeeper.
Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Felsburg Horn, wife of Dr. Arthur Horn, a former general practitioner in Gratz who died in 1965, was found dead at about 7:30.
Although complete autopsy results have not been returned, state police at Harrisburg said the examination revealed the woman was murdered Thursday night.
Mrs. Horn, who was active in community affairs, was pronounced dead at the scene by Dauphin County Deputy Coroner, Dr. Edward Lentz.
Lt. Herman Faiola, officer in charge of the crime unit at the state police barracks at Harrisburg, refused to reveal the cause of the victim’s death or other details. He would not say if gunshot or stab wounds were found on the body.
Harrisburg troopers, who are being assigned by state police at Lykens, said they have established no motive.
Mrs. Horn, who had one daughter and was a native of Minersville, was a member of the Gratz Historical Society, the Gratz Senior Citizens, the Upper Dauphin Human Services Citizens Board, the Gratz Area Ambulance Association and the auxiliary at Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg.
The funeral was to be conducted today.
