A small plane crash near Halifax, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, in 1955, resulted in the destruction of the plane and injuries to the pilot and passenger. The event was reported in the Elizabethville Echo, August 4, 1955.
TWO INJURED IN PLANE CRASH NEAR HALIFAX
Floyd Shive and his brother-in-law, Ray Zimmerman, both of Halifax R. D. were injured when their plane crashed in a field near Shive’s home, southeast of Halifax, Saturday afternoon.
According to advices, Shive, the pilot and owner of the small plane had planned to deliver it to a prospective buyer. Flying over the area southeast of Halifax, the plane struck a high tension electric line and nose-dived into a field.
Shive sustained possible fractures of the breast bone and nose, lacerations of the head and other injuries; and Zimmerman suffered fractures of several ribs, fractured ankle and lacerations of the head. Both men were admitted to the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg. A number of electric patrons were without electricity until line repairs were made by utility company workmen.
