The message/address side of a picture post card mailed from Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, with machine cancel dated 17 August 1916. The sender is identified only as “Ruth” and the addressee is Miss Miriam Woodring, #734 Washington Street, Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Harrisburg was not only the State capital, but also the county seat of Dauphin County. Much of the mail originating from or sent to the Lykens Valley passed through the rail center at Harrisburg on its way to other parts of Pennsylvania and the world.
