
PROMINENT TOWER CITY MAN TYPHOID VICTIM
Tower City, September 23 [1925] — Harry Preston Wiest, aged 32 years, of Wiconisco & Second Streets, died at his home here Friday morning of last week, following an illness of two weeks from typhoid fever.
Mr. Wiest was quite active in borough, social and chrch work. His energetic spirit won for him a host of friends. At the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad [P. & R. R.] he served as telegraph operator; fraternally, he was secretary of the I. O. O. F. of this place; and a member of Ashlar Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Lykens; he was also a member of the Ashlar Lodge Glee Club. In church work he was a Deacon of the Consistory of the Reformed Church and a member of the church choir, and also was a member of the Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery Board.
Wiest was born at Williamstown, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wiest, and came to this place about ten years ago. In 1918, he married Miss Hilda Uhler of town, who survives with his mother, Mrs. Henry Shadle of Williamstown, and a sister, Mrs. Robert Fetterhoff, also of Williamstown.
The funeral in charge of Ashlar Lodge No. 570 F. & A. M. of Lykens, was held Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock, services being conducted by the Rev. Webster Stover of the Reformed Church, assisted by the Rev. Ira F. Frankenfield of the Lutheran church. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
