FUNERAL FOR GRATZ RESIDENT HELD TUESDAY
Harvey C. Fidler, age 72 years, 5 months, and 8 days, died at his home in Gratz last Friday afternoon following an illness of ten weeks.
He was a life long resident of that community where he was born July 6, 1862, the son of the late Frank Fidler and Susannah [Kissinger] Fidler. He was married to Miss Kathryn Wolfe at Elizabethville, June 3, 1883. Mr. Fidler was a carpenter by occupation and had been employed in the mines at one time. He had been Superintendent of the Evangelical Congregational Sunday School a number of years and was affiliated with Lykens Valley Castle 493, K. G. E. [Knights of the Golden Eagle] of Gratz and was a member of the Evangelical Congregational Church at that place.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Minnie, Mrs. Charles Hoffman, Elizabethville, R.D.; Ruth, Mrs. Clarence Portzline, York; and Dorothy, Mrs. Myrle Bowers of Harrisburg. Two children, Maude Fidler and John Fidler preceded him in death. Fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren and a sister and one brother, Mrs. Henry Snyder, Philadelphia and Allen Fidler of Shamokin, also survive.
Funeral services were held from the residence at ten o’clock Tuesday morning. Rev. J. J. Fasnacht, pastor of the Evangelical Church officiated and interment was made in the Evangelical Cemetery at Gratz.
