A photograph from about 1913 of Aaron Willier hauling mine timber. The young man who is seated next to Aaron is Norman Daniel.
The lumbering industry sent most of the cut trees to saw mills to be made into sawed wood for construction of buildings in the area, or shipped elsewhere by rail.
The collieries often took the trees that were too crooked or too thin to be sent to the saw mills. This wood was used to make props to support the top in gangways and tunnels.
