A photograph of the Henry Nelson Hoke family of Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, taken in front of the family home about 1918. Based on the age of Paul A. Hoke, who was born in 1910 and appears to be about 8 years old, this family photo was taken about 1918. However, one source suggests that it was taken as late as 1923.
Persons have been identified as follows:
Front Row (mostly seated): Anna [Hoke] Travitz; Henry Nelson Hoke, father; Paul A. Hoke (standing); Sarah Ida [Radel] Hoke, mother; Edna [Hoke] Shadle.
Back Row (standing): Hazel [Heim] Dietrich; Harry H. Hoke Jr.; Ray Nelson Hoke; William Hoke; Mabel [Hoke] Row; Florence [Hoke] Heim Crosson.
Not pictured is daughter Minnie Irene [Hoke] Heim, who, according to records found on Ancestry.com, married Charles Matson Heim in Stanly County, North Carolina, in 1918. He was inducted into the service in 22 July 1918 and served in World War I, until his discharge on 5 December 1918. This could be considered further confirmation that the photo was taken in 1918 rather than 1923 as the other source indicates.
