One of the largest crowds on record in the history of baseball in Tremont was on hand last year to see the House of David team play. Everyone that saw them play last year and many more will be on hand next Thursday night, July 27 [1939] when the Bearded Brethren return for another engagement.
The game will be played under the lights starting at 8:30 standard time.
Leading the visitors will be the famous Jimmy Woods, one of the greatest fielding first basemen ever to appear on the local field. Fans are still talking about the way he played last year, making astonishing plays look simple as he cut off certain hits to right field and turned them into putouts.
The batting order of the House of David team will be: Smoller (4), right field; Grant (2), left field; Leznick (5), shortstop; Thomas (8), center field; Woods (3), 1st base; Jones (15), 2nd base; Kramer (16), 3rd base; Chew (6), catcher; Janesko (7) pitcher; Swaney (11), pitcher; Ciccone (10), pitcher; Martina (12), pitcher; Sheffield (1), pitcher; Butler (9), utility.
