HENRY BORDNER ROBBED
Henry Bordner, a decrepit veteran of the Civil War, who lived alone in the upper end of Paul’s Valley, was robbed about three weeks ago of $30 which he had managed to save out of his pension, and also his pension papers. They were kept in a trunk, which the thief or thieves broke open and ransacked. His wife, who resides at Shamokin, on being informed of the robbery, last Friday had him taken to that place in a team. Mr. Bordner is nearly bent double with rheumatism, is a sufferer from a bad rupture and chronic diarrhea, and it seems almost beyond belief that any one could be so cruel as to rob such an unfortunate defender of our country. No punishment can be too severe for such scoundrels.
