Funeral Saturday For James Zerfing, Gratz Merchant
Funeral services for James E. Zerfing, well known Gratz resident, who died at his home there Tuesday evening [18 August 1942], will be held from the residence at 10:00 o’clock Saturday morning. Rev. A. Levan Zechman, pastor of the Lykens Valley Reformed Charge, will officiate, and interment will be in the Gratz Cemetery. Mr. Zerfing was 65 years old.
He was a son of Elias Zerfing and Elizabeth [Hepner] Zerfing, and was a native and life-long resident of Gratz, where he had engaged in the hardware and tinsmith business about thirty years.
Mr. Zerfing was a member of Simeon’s Reformed Church, and the Odd Fellows and Knights of the Golden Eagle Lodges, of Gratz.
Survivors are his wife, who was formerly Miss Minnie A. Lebo; one son, LeRoy Zerfing, of Gratz; a granddaughter, June Zerfing; two brothers, Morris H. Zerfing, Elizabethville, and William Zerfing, of Philadelphia; and a sister, Mrs. Edmund Kissinger, of Sunbury.
