This photograph of the James Ferster family of Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, came with only 5 of the 6 persons identified. It is also a very poor copy of an original.
According to the identifications with this photo, James Ferster and Cora Ferster are seated in the front row. Cora S. [Brown] Ferster was the second wife of James. He married her after his first wife died in 1901. James had at least 3 children with the first wife, Sevilla Phillips. According to family records available on Ancestry.com, James and Cora had 4 children together – a boy and three girls. It is likely therefore that this photograph is of James Ferster’s family with the second wife.
In the back row, the identifications are as follows: Mary Ellen [Ferster] Lahr, born about 1910; John E. Ferster, born about 1904; and Amanda Sevilla [Ferster] Lenker, born about 1906. The young girl at the right side of the picture is not identified. If the first three identifications are accepted, then the unidentified girl is Cora A. Ferster, who was born about 1914, and if she is about 8 years old when the photo was taken, the photo can be dated at about 1922.
Therefore, by the above-described scenario:
Front Row (seated, and young girl standing): James Ferster, father; Cora S. [Brown] Ferster, mother; Cora A. Ferster, born about 1914.
Back Row (standing): Mary Ellen [Ferster] Lahr, born about 1910 ; John E. Ferster; Amanda Sevilla [Ferster] Lenker, born about 1906.
