FIND MAN DEAD IN POWELS VALLEY HOME
John C. Esterline, 67, was found dead in the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Bordner in Powels Valley, east of Carsonville, on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bordner, who left several weeks ago for a vacation in Florida, had engaged Esterline as a caretaker during their absence.
When neighbors failed to see Mr. Esterline about the farm, they notified State Police. State Policeman C. W. Hamberger of Lykens, who answered the call, entered the farm house and found the man’s body in the kitchen.
Following an autopsy, the cause of the man’s death was ascribed to pneumonia. It is believed he had been dead several days.
There are no immediate survivors.
Services were held from the Reiff and Helt Funeral Home, Lykens, at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. C. S. Engle, pastor of the Wiconisco Evangelical Congregational Church officiated, and interment was made in the Wiconisco Cemetery.
