John P. Lentz (1872-1941)

John P. Lentz Died at Millersburg Tuesday

John P. Lentz, age 68 years, died at his home, State Street, Millersburg, Tuesday [30 September 1941].

Mr. Lentz was a son of the late Calvin Lentz and Lydia [Wilbert] Lentz and was born in Washington Township, near Elizabethville, 22 November 1872.  He spent the earlier years of his life in the community and later entered the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, being stationed at various times in Baltimore and Harrisburg.  He had been a resident of Millersburg the past twelve years, and had retired from the railroad service several years ago.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Lentz; one daughter, Mrs. Martha Bender, of Cleona, Lebanon County; one sister, Mrs. Annie Crommer, Baltimore; and five brothers, James E. Lentz, of Elizabethville; Charles Lentz, Millersburg, R. D.; Henry Lentz, of Baltimore; Allen Lentz, of Lykens; and Joseph Lentz, of Lancaster.

Funeral services will be held from the residence Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock with further services in Hebron United Brethren Church, Millersburg, of which he was a member.  The pastor, S. T. Dundore, will officiate and interment will be made in Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville.
