Judith E. [Bowman] Schach (1943-2022) – Educator & Founder of Learning Tree Pre-School

Judith Elaine Schach, 79, of Tower City, went home to be the Lord, Monday afternoon, August 22, 2022 at her home.

Born in Tower City, March 16, 1943, a daughter of the late Lester Bowman and Grace [Schaeffer] Bowman.  Judy was a graduate of the former Porter Tower High School and the Kutztown State College where she earned her degree in Education.

She was a former Spanish and English teacher with the Williams Valley School District.  After teaching at Williams Valley she was a substitute teacher and did private tutoring.

In 1986 Judy co-founded the Learning Tree Pre-School, Tower City, where she was a teacher, retiring in 1998.  Her legacy will live on with the hundreds of young minds that began their education at the Learning Tree.

Judy was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Tower City where she was a former member of the Women’s Guild and Sunday School teacher. She was also the former organist and choir director for over 40 years.  Judy was also the organist and choir director for St. Peter’s United Church of Christ for over 25 years.  

Judy’s life was dedicated to education, her church, and her love of music. She was an accomplished musician and enjoyed her time with the Gloriana Consort, performing at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Madrigal and the Renaissance Faire.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Bowman and a sister, Iris [Bowman] McNoldy.

Surviving are her husband Claude H. Schach, to whom they recently celebrated 55 years of marriage; Beloved nieces and nephews, Sheryl Hart and her husband, Larry Hart; Darren McNoldy and his wife Kim McNoldy; Greg Bowman and his wife Robyn Bowman, and Barry Bowman and his partner Karen Peterson; a brother-in-law, Ray McNoldy, and a sister-in-law, Lynne Bowman;  Several great nieces and nephews.
