An undated photograph of the J. & A. Fuel Injection business in Klingerstown, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, which was established in August 1979.
A brief history of the business accompanied the photo:
Owned and operated by Allen G. Troutman, the business first began on Route 147, Herndon, as A. & L. Diesel. Allen moved the business to Klingerstown in January 1990 to Dale Troutman‘s Sunoco Service Station, which is a 4-bay and 1 truck bay garage.
Russell Blyler of Hepler, a close friend of Allen’s, helped design and build many tools for his business. Russell also provide the first income for the business when Allen converted a Ford pickup to a V-6 Cummins Diesel. Guy Snyder of Snyder Fuels in Dornsife provided the first Cummins fuel pump to rebuild. Vernon Smeltz of Meckley’s Limestone in Herndon provided the first Detroit injectors to rebuild. A. & L. Diesel, George Adams, and Bill Adams, presented the first Cummins injectors to rebuild, and Bill Karper of Halifax provided the first tune-up for the business.
Allen’s motto has always been “Problems for Progress,” meaning he’s never too busy to help with a problem when customers are rebuilding an engine. Allen has been to many engine factory schools for diesel engines, which enable him to provide the following types of service and repairing of Allis Chalmers, Fist, Case, New Holland, Cummins, Onan, Detroit, Dodge, Ford, GMv8, International, Navistar, Mack, Massey Ferguson, Oliver, White, Minneapolis, Moline, Perkins, Toyota, VW engines, fuel pumps and injectors.
