Located in this hotel building was the barber shop of Percy E. Walborn, who died February 27, 2007.
Percy was the barber in Klingerstown for many years. His shop was locate in Schwalm’s Hotel, first in the basement and later on the first floor. The lower level shop was lined with wooden benches and was brightly lit. A red-striped barber pole marked the stairway to his shop, which was close to the bridge over the Pine Creek. After the Flood of 1972, he moved to the first floor at the north end of the hotel.
Percy was born at Hunter Station and was a World War II veteran serving in both Europe and Africa.
He was popular and had many customers.
