Koons Family

koonsfamily-001

An undated photograph only described as of the Koons family of Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

Part of the family that may appear in this photo is of Joel Albert Koons (1882-1963) who is buried at Gratz (Simeon) Union Cemetery, Gratz, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, but the couple at the center of the picture are much older and therefore born much earlier than 1882.  Joel married Catherine M. Schwartz (1886-1967).  Some of their known children were:  Dorothy May Koons, born about 1905; John Elmer Koons, born about 1906; Ray Allen Koons, born about 1911; Sadie Ellen Koons, born about 1914; Katie Alverda Koons, born about 1915; Helen Elmira Koons, born about 1919; and Betty J. Koons.  It is unlikely that most of the children are in the photo.

A number key is presented below to assist readers in identifying those pictured.  An approximate date and location also needs to be established.
