An undated picture post card view of the Northern Central Railroad Station at Liverpool, located north of Millersburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, on the east bank of the Susquehanna River. The photograph was taken from the river bank, looking south.
Liverpool was actually located in Perry County, Pennsylvania, on the west bank of the river, and a ferry dock was located about 15 feet below the station on the river bank from which passengers and freight were moved back and forth across the river. Passengers used stairs behind the station. This rare view shows the ferry and dock.
Another photograph of this station, taken from the track level, shows a hoist used to facilitate the loading and unloading of freight from the ferry to the station or vice versa. The hoist does not appear in this picture, possibly indicating that this picture pre-dates the other.
