A newspaper photograph from 25 September 1929 of a football game between Lykens High School and William Penn High School in which Lykens was defeated 57-0.
The caption provided the following additional information:
“It took the William Penn secondary defense to stop the Lykens High School onslaught on the William Penn line as this photo shows. The above picture was taken during the third period of the William Penn-Lykens High School game on the William Penn athletic field Saturday afternoon. The game was won by William Penn by the score of 57 to 0. The background show part of the crowded William Penn bleachers. It was estimated by Jesse Rees, financial director, that a crowd of 5000 attended the contest.”
