The message and address side of a post card mailed from Lykens on 12 July 1911 and canceled aboard the Lykens Valley Railroad by postal workers serving on the Lykens–Millersburg Railway Post Office heading “west.”
The addressee was Mrs. J. N. Gish of Manheim, Pennsylvania. The message states, in part: “We’re having a sporty time up here. We’re going up to the mines to-morrow. This morning we took a trip up to the creek….“
