NEGRO ACQUITTED OF ATTACKING GIRLS
Rumor was prevalent Wednesday night that two girls of town were attacked about six o’clock that evening by a negro and on information given, Constable Enders investigated and placed the alleged assailant under arrest. The case was taken before Justice of the Peace W. S. Young yesterday and the girls corroborated the story as given by the colored man. A representative of the Standard witnessed the alleged attack which amounted to naught, excepting that one of the girls, of a nervous disposition, screamed when she saw the colored man about to pass her from the back. The case was dismissed by the Justice in that no proof could be given of intentions which indicated attack.
