The description includes the following:
LYKENS – On Northern Central Railroad, 42 miles from Harrisburg. Drawing population 6000. Lykens is a coal town and the seat of the famous Lykens Valley Coal. Companies playing Harrisburg can play Lykens and several small and large towns between Tamaqua and Sunbury.
LYKENS OPERA HOUSE – Completed 1 January 1889. Stage 25 x 50…. Seats 700. Folding opera chairs. Ample scenery and set stuff. Piano. Green room and four large dressing rooms. House fully equipped throughout. Lighted and heated and all attaches, bill boards and poster furnished by management. One of the finest houses in Central Pennsylvania. Only house in city. Wise and Young, proprietors. Seats at Opera House and store.
HOTELS – Glen, $2; Union, $1.25; Valley, Hensel’s Cafe, $1 per day.
PAPER – Register, Thursday.
BILL POSTER – Ad. Opera House.
BAGGAGE AGENT – Baggage attended to by Opera House Management.
This Opera House was in operation from 1889 to 1917, when it closed and the building was converted into a factory.
