The above cut from a Reading Railroad Company schedule from 1934, shows the station stops on the Williams Valley Branch, the distance in miles between each station, and the time it took from the entry of the train onto the branch line to proceed to the final destination of Lykens. This rail branch was a total of 11.1 miles in length, passing through Reinerton, Tower City, and Williamstown.
In 1934, there was one scheduled train per day westward, and one scheduled train per day eastward, with the exception of Sunday on which there was no service. The left side (westward) reads down, and the right side (eastward) reads up. The “S” and “F” designations on the schedule note regular stops and flag stops. The flag stop stations were Thompson, Green Fields and Dayton. A train leaving Williams Valley Junction in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, at 12:09 p.m., would take 36 minutes to reach Lykens. However, a train leaving Lykens at 3:00 p.m.and heading to Williams Valley Junction would take 44 minutes to reach its destination.
