A photograph taken in 2010 of the original water cooler from the Geise School, Specktown, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Alongside the cooler is a folding drinking cup use by students at the school.
At the sale of items from the school, this cooler was purchased by William E. Dietrich (1896-1977) and was retained by his daughter Kathryn E. [Dietrich] Gasbarro (1915-2003) after his death. Upon her death, her heirs put it on loan for exhibit at the local historical society. Kathryn’s memories of the one-room schoolhouse included her responsibility of drawing water from the school well and filling the cooler. She attended the Geise School from 1920 to 1928.
