An enhanced photocopy of a photograph of students and teacher taken November 1924 at the Kessler School, also known as the Erdman School, Erdman, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The photo shows the side of the one-room school house, the last one built in the township and the only one built of wood.. This school still stands, but is presently owned by a local historical society that has painted it red and erroneously refers to it as “the little red school house.” The building was painted white when it was used as a school house, as can be seen in the photograph.
The teacher and none of the students are identified. To assist readers in providing identifications, a number key is given below.
